Swap the usual plans for something seriously different – FootGolf at Monkeyland, right next to the iconic Birds of Eden aviary!
This isn’t just another round of football or a walk in the park – it’s a wild adventure across natural fairways, around water hazards, and through stretches of indigenous forest where your skills, precision, and power are put to the test. Kick your way across nine uniquely designed holes, each blending sport with the untamed beauty of nature.
From aiming past reed beds, bushes, and trees to holding your nerve by the water’s edge, this is FootGolf with a twist – and your jungle gallery is always watching.
Entry is R100 per person (13 years and older) and R50 per child (3–12 years). A refundable R100 deposit is required per ball, and every group of four players receives a scorecard and ball markers to keep play fair and flowing.
The FootGolf Course – 9 Holes of Pure Adventure
Our 9-hole FootGolf course isn’t just about kicking a ball down a fairway – it’s about navigating a wild landscape where every hole feels like a brand-new challenge. From dodging ditches to holding your nerve by the water’s edge, each step (and kick) is its own adventure.
Hole 1 – The Birdsong Opener (Par 5, 78m Ladies / 115m Men)
The very first tee sets the tone. You’re right next to Birds of Eden, the world’s largest free-flight aviary, and the calls of exotic birds ring out around you. It’s easy to get distracted, but focus – you’ve got up to 115 metres to cover. Can you reach the green in under five kicks, or will the forest edge tempt you off course?
Hole 2 – The Water’s Whisper (Par 4, 68m Ladies / 83m Men)
The second hole stretches out like an extension of the first, pulling you ever closer to the looming dam. It’s a straightforward kick, but don’t be fooled – the terrain starts tightening. The trees and shrubs on either side mean you’ll need to aim with precision. Too wide, and you’re playing recovery before you even see the flag.
Hole 3 – The Gully Gauntlet (Par 4, 64m Ladies / 84m Men)
Here’s where things get interesting. Between your tee and the green lies a sneaky ditch (or “sloot” as we call it in Afrikaans). Do you power over it in one daring boot, or play it safe with a layup shot? One bad bounce could see your ball rolling back into the trench. This hole is about strategy as much as strength.
Hole 4 – The Dam Breaker (Par 3, 32m)
Short and sweet – or is it? At only 32m, you’d think this is an easy three kicks at most. But just beyond the green lies the dam, ready to swallow an overshot ball. Accuracy is everything. Get cocky and you’ll be fishing your ball out of the mud. Stay sharp and you’ll feel like a pro for nailing one of the trickiest “short” holes on the course.
Hole 5 – The Riverbank Curve (Par 4, 39m Ladies / 52m Men)
A scenic stroll brings you to the fifth tee along the riverbank. Sounds tranquil, right? Not so fast. The water still lurks to your side, daring you to bend your shot just right. A wrong curve in your kick, and your ball takes a swim. This hole teaches patience – sometimes a softer touch gets you to the green faster than brute force.
Hole 6 – The Green Sprint (Par 3, 36m Ladies / 56m Men)
Don’t underestimate this little gem. The fairway is shorter, but that makes precision even more important. One wayward kick and you’re playing recovery from the bushes. Nail a clean, straight drive here and it feels like a personal victory lap before moving into the tougher half of the course.
Hole 7 – The Road Return (Par 5, 66m Ladies / 86m Men)
Crossing the road signals the beginning of your return journey toward Monkeyland. This is your final par 5, and it’s all about reading the land. The natural curve of the fairway demands a clever angle – too straight and you’ll overshoot, too wide and you’re wasting kicks. Get it right, and this becomes the most satisfying drive of your round.
Hole 8 – The Straight Shooter (Par 4, 55m Ladies / 82m Men)
After all the challenges, Hole 8 feels like a gift. A wide-open, straight fairway gives you the easiest shot of the day. No tricks, no ditches, no water. Just you, the ball, and the flag. Many players use this hole to make up for lost shots earlier on – but don’t get too relaxed, or you’ll drift off target.
Hole 9 – The Forest Finale (Par 4, 48m Ladies / 66m Men)
The last hole lures you in with what looks like a simple shot. But waiting just behind the green is the thick natural forest, eager to snatch any ball you kick too high or too far. It’s a classic case of “easy to learn, hard to master.” Land it right, and you finish strong. Misjudge it, and the jungle has the last laugh.
