Brown Howler

Unfortunately we must inform you about the bereavement of Romeo, our only and very special Brown Howler. His death was caused by leukaemia - it is a big loss for Monkeyland.

When Romeo marked his territory, you were able to hear him call up to six kilometres (they are the World’s loudest land mammals). Romeo’s outer appearance was quite different to all the other monkeys who live here at Monkeyland, and the main thing why his death is as serious, is because his species is critically endangered.

Monkeyland was proud to keep a special species like our Brown Howler, because species like Romeo needs to be a part of a breeding program to ensure their survival.

Remember, that every time you visit Monkeyland you are supporting the primates who live here, and in return Monkeyland supports the diversity of the many primate species of the World.
