Guest Speaker: Jim Dion, Solimar’s VP of Destination Partnerships and National Geographic's Sustainable Tourism Program Manager of the Maps Division will provide an overview of the Geotourism Program for destinations. This program, developed and implemented in partnership between Solimar International and the National Geographic Society in more than 21 destinations, provides solutions to many of the challenges Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) face, including stakeholder engagement, product and circuit development, packaging, marketing, and income generation. The Geotourism methodology identifies what is unique about a destination and works with local stakeholders to create an interactive, co-branded National Geographic MapGuide and website that highlight authentic and compelling visitor experiences.
